Ocean to Ocean Cayco Race 2010

This is my super, supportive and excited cheer squad. See how much they love watching middle aged ladies play sports?

This cruise ship was coming out of the lock on the Atlantic side just as our race started. We had to move left just so they could get out. It was totally cool.

I finally got pictures from our Ocean to Ocean Cayuco Race and don't we look like stellar athletes at the prime of our fitness lives? I paddled with Tammy Peterson (the pacer-meaning she basically counts to 17 and yells ready over and over again for hours), Maureen Lamb (the power-she is the muscle--when she was not taking a lunch break hehe), Sandy Montinegro (the bailer- she bailes any water that comes in the boat and any pee should someone need to relieve themselves), Me (the steerer- I make the boat go in a straight line---at least that was the objective). We paddled 50 miles for three days from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean through the Panama Canal. I'm proud to say we finished seventh in the women's category and we are still taking to each other.
